This holiday-form offers a unique opportunity of experiencing the every-day-life of a hunter's family at close hand, and if you want to, you can take part in their daily routines. You should not expect great luxury, but on the other hand you will have an experience which only very few travellers have the chance of getting.
The host family, who will welcome you into their home, consists of Boas and Karen. Both of them were born and grew up in Kummiut. Karen is a superb cook, and it will be possible to try out some of the specialities of the Greenlandic kitchen.
Both Boas and Karen speak Greenlandic, Danish and a few words in English; but in this area, they will have some help from their grandchildren, who learn English at school.
They have a spare bedroom with mattresses, which will be put at your desposial the days you chose to stay with the family.(Wednesday to Saturday)
Boas will fetch you at the airport in Kulusuk and sail you to Kummiut in time for supper. Afterwards there will be time for a small stroll/sightseeing in the settlement.
Friday
Day-trip to Karale and Knud Rasmussen Glacier, situated to the north of Kummiut.
Saturday
Breakfast, before you will be sailed back to the airport in Kulusuk.
Notice!
It is important to remember that everything in Greenland is depending of the weather. Therefore, it is impossible to guaranty that the program can be kept100%; but that too is part of the Greenlandic culture - to live with, and as a part of the powers of nature.
