Deep-sea fishing in East Greenland

In the Ammassalik area, you will find several deep fjords. This means, that you, if living in Kummiut, only will have a small hour's sailing to reach the fishing banks.

In 2008, we had a visit from a group of professional deep-sea anglers, who wanted to see what fishing potentials the Kummiut area could offer.

We caught both spotted catfish and Greenlandhalibut, which we have plenty of in these waters; but which never before have been taken by angling.

On long-lines catfish up to 50 kg have been caught and Greenlandhalibut up to around 14 kg; both would have been world-records if taken with a fishing rod.

The result of our three days fishing adventure was 12 catfish, of which the largest weighed 14 kg. And as something unique, we landed a 4.5 kg heavy Greenland halibut - a new world-record. The former record had, until then, been on 2.5 kg. However, it ought to be possible to break also the new record within the nearest future.

From the 22nd of August, it will be possible to book on for shorter or longer tours.

Arrival at Kulusuk airport, where you will be picked up. We will start out with a bit of catfish angling in an area close by the airport, and then continue to Kummiut, where you will be staying.

Sunday:

The further program will be planned with you on arrivel, it all depends on the weather, where we are going.
